I might be heading Carlingford way with the family for a few days mid february. Is there anywhere up that way worth casting a line? Any help appreciated.

Re: Carlingford
Hi Stephen, i have fished a lot of marks around that area for the last few weeks and have blanked every time. In saying that, i talked to a local lad who says he is getting come sea trout at the minute but was not to forthcoming on the exact mark. I'm going to try a mark around by ballaghan point about 5 miles south of carlingford tomorrow nite, so if anything happens i will let ye know. I hope someone else can advise you as well, would be interesting to see if anyone else is fishing around this area at the minute.
Good things come to those who bait.

Re: Carlingford
from our own experience the pier at greencastle fishes a lot better. we fished the 2 in carlingford and got tortured with the kids with wet suits jumping in all around the place, but it would'nt have mattered as the fishing was pretty poor before they arrived

Re: Carlingford
i tried that area one summer and every bit of water for miles had too many mackerel that nothing else had a chance. it was actually deafening on the beaches and you could actually catch them with your hands. funny thing was we spent about £60 on bait going to a new spot and it got boring quick. i have experienced extreme feeding frenzies like that before, but it had put us off going all the way down there again. Does anyone know of any shore-caught tope from there ?
