caught some of them in the bait net before and had doggies on them. the pollack and coalies went bonkers for them fished live below a sliding float set up in october 2 years back. :)

aren't brown shrimp the really really small ones often found in estuaries. they would be too fiddly to use and also if using in an area where they are prolific surely your target fish finding your bait would be too much needle in haystack. as far as i know they are used in potted-shrimp which is a traditional recipe from some town in England

dunno man. the ones i'm talking about are corkers about the same size as your thumb. we get loads of them around the coast in the autumn. if you go rock pooling in the dark its freaky as their wee eyes reflect back in your headlight. but it does make them easy to find. we also usually get loads of them hanging in tight to harbour walls. :)

i think what ye are talking bout are prawns (not da Dublin bay kind) gatherd in rock pools and around peirs etc . These can be deadly float fished live for Bass if you can find an area where there are not too many Pollock cause dey really love em. Brown shrimp (caught in a push net on open beachs and esturys) are a bit small for a hook bait but dey make a great ground bait for plaice when boat fishing they work really well!!
