As I said summer time to late Autumn i.e. May-Oct is when they've showed up, that's not to say they're not there earlier in year. The comps are always held in daylight for safety reasons... several were caught last year and this year up to 8/9lbs there was also a small Tope landed by the winner of this years Lisdoonvarna Fanore SAC International Week - Mike Curtin. There were over a dozen different species landed including, Conger to over 30lbs, Thornback Ray, Spurdogs, Tope, Huss... quite a few guys were bitten off also.markyb wrote:thanks for the reply saltydogdo you know if early spring is more productive over the west for them as its better on the east coast from jan-march and when the spurs were caught during the comp were they caught in any numbers, were they caught during the day or night?
