Streedagh Point Fishing Marks

#1 Post by Sigvadir »

Hi all,

I am wondering if anyone would like to share some details about Streedagh Point Fishing Marks?
People are often refering to "Streedagh Point" but I dont know were exactly that is. I think Streedagh quite an interesting and absolutly unique and stunning arrangement of shoreline to fish. LOVE IT! But I dont really know where and how to fish the different venues.

I heard from a local guy that the stony bay (1) is good for Pollock and wrasse, and thats were I was fishing myself for at least 10 times and only catched a medium size dogfish so far. Very rough ground there, always used rotten bottom rigs. Have to say I am quite new to fishing and was mainly fishing in very bad fishing conditions mainly for the craic and to try my new gear and practice casting etc.

If anyone would like to share some experience on which spot(s) might be the best to go for and what species have been caught I would be delighted to hear about it. I am wondering if spot (2) and (3) are generally referred to as "Streedagh Point" or the whole arrangment is called "Streedagh Point"?

Thanks for any advice on this

The point is between 2&3. You can get the odd conger from the bay marked one but it's very rough. Try the bit of beach between 3 and 4 I usually find the carpark end better, but that could just be me being too lazy to walk further up! Use the usual baits mack, lug, sandeel. It can throw up some nice fish if you hit at the right time.

Cheers

Thanks for all the reply....

I will give the Point a try so. I was thinking that the Bay is very rough indeed. I am digging some lugworm this week and try the beach for flounder as well over the holidays.
Is there still pollack and wrasse that close in during winter as well?

Haha yes shane I would probably be the same and not walk too far but it would probably be a good Idea to do some exercise after xmas ;-)

Thanks again, hope to finally leave streedagh with a lovely dinner :)

Cheers
