Re: best bait for Portrush
My husband will sware by lug for flatties, codling coalies, and most fish on the bottom, rag for bass and pollock and wrasse. Fish baits, mack, sandeels and blueys are doggie killers.
Hope this helps

Re: best bait for Portrush
team tuner just hit the nail on the head!!
try some of the black sticky lug with a squid tip - i was out during the week and it was producing double and triple shots of coalies, whiting, flounder - i had to keep 3 traces baited up for one rod or else i couldnt keep up with the buggers. that lug is great for dabs too.
havent had much luck on the crab baits or even bluey for that matter.
if you want you can pm me with specifics and i'll try help you out.
have you been on east strand recently????

Re: best bait for Portrush
Ye the wife got it spot on. Scary. Lol.
Just remember time of year, alot of the summer fish are away to the deeper water now with only a few pollock and wrasse still about, but bass, flatties, coalies, dogs, codling are about just now so focus on those and what they eat and you can't go wrong.Don't forget if you have some spare mackeral or catch a coalie etc get it on a conger trace because they can be had all year round.
Very best of luck
Nick
