Re: How to dig Rag
For rag you may need to go at least a foot down for maddies they are often close to the surface but this may vary in different areas.
The slack tides this weekend may make it difficult to dig some of the bait beds.
The best tool is a fork
Get there at low water you will learn over time that some areas can be dug on the dropping tide other will not as the surface water may be slow to drain off.

well dan, as donal says you'll want a good fork and get there around a hour before low tide to give yourself plenty of time,

Re: How to dig Rag
I'm new to bait collecting in the cork area. I have dug bait around Aghada pier a few times now. For future reference if your coming through Rostellen from Midleton direction you can get king rag on the Rostellen side of the pier. You will get king rag close to the tide line in the sand and will get maddies all over especially in the more stoney sand. On the other side of the pier you can get some lug also but not very big or numerous. Hope this helps!
