Not too sure what your talking about but i've used baited feathers hung below a float. I attach the weight above the feathers, slide a float on the main line and tie the feathers to the main line. Tie a stop knot made of power gum above the float, adjust to whatever depth you want and that's the set up. As i said, not sure if this is what your talking about but hope it helps.
Species 2014: whiting, coalie, pouting, codling, pollack, ballan wrasse, dab, poor cod, mackerel, grey gurnard, conger, ling, cuckoo wrasse, launce, common skate, bass, scad, garfish, blue shark

Species 2015: Ballan wrasse, poor cod, pollack, ling, flounder, turbot, mackerel, whiting, lsd, dab, grey gurnard, pouting, cuckoo wrasse, cod

A weighted float ( can use a coke bottle with your weight trapped inside drill hole in the cap pass your line through attach your weight, half fill with water. ) lenght online for changing the dept, swivel, feathers, 1oz drilled bullet lead trapped on your main line with a bead and a crimp.

It works for me.
