Where to start?

#1 Post by evan699 »

I have an old fresh water fly rod and reel (greys i think) and i'm going to start using in for swff as i don't go near the rivers or lakes anymore. I was going to try and get a mullet on the fly but i fear i've missed my chance as i haven't seen them as my usual marks recently. I was hoping to get a bass, pollack, mack or coalie. Anything really just to get the feel for it. I was wondering should i don the waders and get myself out in the surf or should i start on a flat rock platform. Any tips for a beginner would be much appreciated. Cheers.
