spinning tips

just wanting some of your expert advice folks. heading on friday for a days fishing with a few mates in a mini comp between 6 of us and we have allow one bait rod and if you want one spinning as well. i bought one a few weeks ago and havent cristened it yet so im gona give it a bash on firday on portrush.

was wondering what would be the best tackle. i have a few spinners and feathers etc but im not sure what to use off the rocks

spinners and jellyworms (imitation of sandeel or lug black with red tail) well no harm try any color, works well
for bigger fish and feathers good for smaller ones
also wee fly atached above jellyworm could help you to pick some smaller fellas when fishing is slow
that may helps

The Kilty Catcher is a good lure/spinner and is worth a try, colour - silver holographic (scale effect) 8) It casts well. When retreiving in, vary the speed you bring it in at. Reel slowly then speed up and then slow it down again and so on.

Black jelly worms with red tails work well in alot of situations. Either fished on a jig head or with a 1 foot trace attached to main line with a swivel and a weight running free on the main line. Side winder immitation sand eels are one of my all time favourites too. They work great for the pollack. As the lads said above, a feather type lure (teaser) tied on above the main lure can catch the smaller fish if the big ones aren't taking. Best of luck in the competition.

happy days folks. some good ideas there. i have a few sand eels as well. guy in the shop in portrush was saying they had become more popular around the blue pool area and had a lot of sucess with them lately
