Where did you dig them high up around mid water mark or low down on a big strip???.
To me they look like big blow lug the tide has not stripped out far enough for to get blacks in the past few days.
Kstaff has always been the new black in my eyes anyway!!!!!!!

i get them at the low water mark on any of the biggish tides every month, i,v allways tought they were just blow lug allright but wanted to find out for sure, they live in black shaley sand, maybe thats why their a bit darker, i do find them better for fishing than the light coloured lug tho. thanks for the help lads.

If you drop one into sea water if they curl up they are blow. I think they are blow anyway by the looks of them.

i went back to the same beach on friday morning to try it with the big tides. i got maybe an extra 60 or 70 yards further out than i was digging before. for 30 or 40 yards around the low tide mark was covered in big black casts with the blowhole right in the middle of the cast. so i think these are from black lug. when i started digging tho i couldn't get any even digging fairly deep even tho the beach was covered in them, dose a bait pump get you down any deeper or is it any advantage? would it be worth getting one?

Black lug have the cast and blow hole in the same place. They live in a straight up and down burrow.

http://www.justkayakfishing.co.uk/Black-lug.php

Blow lug live in a u-shape burrow and have the cast at one end and the blow hole in the other

http://www.justkayakfishing.co.uk/Blow-lug.php

Black lug live way further down the intertidal than blow and are not as common.

they look like blow. I get similar ones and to a good size as well.
Usually if you can dig them and they are plentiful they are blow lug and when you can't get them they are blk. !!!!!!!
