Hello all, Please help, I'm planning to fish these venues in mid October. Can you please give me any advice on how best to fish these venues and what to expect. Any tips would be appreciated.
Cheers

Re: Benone/port Rush
i would fish from portrush a fair bit mate. the harbour is very rocky/weedy and you run the rish of losing alot of tackle.
Ramoure head isnt bad, its not bad for spinning or float fishing near in as theres plenty of wrasse near it, its good for a bit of craic.
On around towards the town is the blue pool. i was there a few weeks ago and landed a few Pollock, wrasse and a nice sized dog fish using mackeral for bait.
i will prob be there on sat again coming, i was out on sat morning but it was far far to wet and never stopped raining.

Re: Benone/port Rush
blue pool is one of my favourite spots to fish
there weed for the first 50 yards or so and you can pick up pollock, coalies and wrasse usually in decent numbers on float fished rag, i find it most productive to float fish within 30 feet of the rocks.(it drops off about 15 to 20 feet)
if you cast out past the weed its all sand and you can get (small) plaice and dab, whiting, dogfish, gurnard, more coalies and once an octopus.
theres also a few conger kicking about.

Re: Benone/port Rush
Thanks guys, I'm guessing Port Rush is quite a varied venue. Is it mostly Rock fishing or is there a beach like Benone? When you are float fishing what kind of depth are you fishing at?
I really appreciate your comments.
Thanks

Re: Benone/port Rush
there are beaches but ive never fished off them so cant comment
the rocks at the blue pool are just beside the beach so if you fish off that you would probably catch much of the same.
as for depth, if i was fishing at the blue pool i would start at about 12 feet and go up and down till i found where the fish were, at ramore head its deeper and would start at around 20 feet and work from there. i find either place fishes beest on the float just down the rock wall. casting out any distance isnt as productive, for me at least
