Inch Island, Donegal

#1 Post by scrob »

Has anyone any experience fishing Inch Island in Donegal?

My uncle has recently moved onto the Island and his house is right on the beach. He isn't an angler but has asked me to find out if there's anything worth fishing for, seeing as he is so close to the water.

I've tried to do some research on here but there don't seem to be any angling reports. I remember fishing it a couple of times when I was a kid and managed one tiny fish about an inch ( ) long lol

Any ideas folks?

Do you mean the confluence of the Skeoge and Burnfoot rivers? I fished there as a kid, caught feck all, never went back... would love to try it again if it was worth fishing??

if its a good wet summer it can be lethal for salmon from september onwards had one of my best days salmon fishing ever there hooked 9 got none next day hooked one got it problem is its very easy poached, had a few nice seatrout there as well best fished near where it enters the lake, the sea gates at inch level lough are very good for seatrout, always a chance of a big brown as well.

had mackeril off the side of the harbour last year spinning in late summer. would say that there's some small flats about from various places maybe including the cobbled beach up the back of the island if memory serves me well possibly with the chance of Thornis in season and possibly something else with teeth:?: :?:
