Mulranny Beach

#1 Post by SUMO »

Hi , I am on holiday in Mulranny in september. I have fished the pier before and caught mackeral and small pollack. However I fancy fishing the beach. theres a huge strand just east of the golf course is that any good?

Thanks Guys for the comments.

When I was there last time. I walked out at low tide to some of the islands at Rosmurrevagh. I thought I'd camp out on one over high tide, or will I be wasting my time?

Look mate, Anywhere in IRELAND is phenomenal for fishing BUT I class Mayo as the best in the world.
If youre ever on holiday with a fishing rod and you see ny sort of pier Estuary beach etc just cast out as you will certainly catch
Mulranny is where i am from and if you want Doggies, Conger, Bass cast out witha strip of mackerel of the pier :D
Fancy a little secret? Walk of up the estuary until you reach a first Bridge THAT has crabs in and little sandeels. Go crabbing with your children there and use the crabs and sandeels as bait
Next walk up further towards another Bridge THAT BRIDGE is a secrte of mine
I live in widnes My family emigrated in 1970s but every year we go back and everyone wants to live there
When we go fishing i always go there as i have never knownn anyone to fishi t but me
use 4 HOOKS ragworm and lugworlm on 1 Peeler on 2 sandeel on 3 mackerel on 4 This will land you 10-30lb Turbot bass plaice flounder dab and believe me or not ive caught the odd mullet on sandeel!
Anyway itsa free country so anyone can fish there you, me and ANYBODY ELSE
Beach at Mulranny is great with Mackerel but off the side of the pier and into the rocks 15lb ballann wrass and bass can be caught using peeler and lures
the golf course in incredible for bass but u DEFINETLY do need a strong cast and line and weight as wave way over 2metres hit the beach which is really good for swimmers and a day out  anyway Mayo is surronded by fish so if you fancy a drive just cast out and i guarentee a fish  bye

I read that as a bag weight, not the weight of individual fishes.
