Golden Grey Mullet.
Caught my first ever Golden Grey mullet from a West Cork Beach this evening. Bit of a surprise as I have never had one here in 100s of visits to this beach. Curious though, they dont seem to be too common a catch from the shore, or are they? Anyone else out there had a definite GG mullet from a beach?

Re: Golden Grey Mullet.
I think Arthur gets them pretty regularly around Clonea, but all the others i have seen recently on the site are usually normal think lipped.
Well done on getting one though, i am well jealous. I would love to get one myself.

You get large shoals of Golden Grey Mullet feeding along Tramore beach in Sept. some of Rinnashark sac Juv. anglers have reported catching them close to the beach where they saw flocks of sea gulls feeding .

Re: Golden Grey Mullet.
Interesting. Was arsing around with some of the leftover traces from Scotland with tiny white rag baits tipped off with a mm or 2 of mackerel on size tens at about ten yards. (those traces work so much better here than Scotland....
) Loads of small flats and Mr Golden Grey swinging off em. I was just curious as I've fished this beach an awful lot and never even seen mullet on it let alone caught one. I think that brings mine and Lees combined species tally for this particular beach to 20 now which is fair going!
