Portmuck - Co Antrim - 12/7/2010

#1 Post by Ocean Roar »

People:Myself

Duration:Approx 90mins

Tide:High today was 11:09

Weather:I'm sunburnt!

Bait:None

Rigs:Leeda Ocean Roar/Okuma Mistique with 40lb mainline - Black feather hokkai on 4oz griplead

Results:1 Pollock

Report:
Opps! After an unproductive couple of hours just off Carnfunnock I decided to head round to Portmuck (knowing that it's hiving with activity inc kayak's and jetski's).

Guy up on the rocks looking the biz and a young couple at the pier fishing a hokkai trace like a spinner :?: are the only others seeking the elusive catch. The young couple disappear after 30mins or so and I'm joined by a family again with light weights and hokkai traces.I'm fishing for the second time with my Leeda Ocean Roar 10ft and a black feather hokkai and 4oz griplead. Gave the line a little tug and something hit into it,the guy next to me shouts "Caught on you mate"...So untangle and since the cast was quite bad and I was closer to the rocks than I wanted to be started bring the rig back in, got within sight of the pier and there was a little splash.

Nothing much happened after this so packed up happy and headed home, hoping to return tomorrow.

. are you casting out your feathers and just leaving them out? i think you'll have more luck if you keep casting them out and reel them in or as you say "fish them like a spinner", unless your putting bait on them, then you could just leave them out.
