Fixing a rod ring

The ceramic liner has cracked on one of the rings. Whats the best way to remove the varnish that holds the ring to the rod? Thanks.

Very very fine wet and dry sand paper perhaps? But send Shane H on the site a message,he'll know for sure!!

just heat it up with a hair dryer then cut along the ring foot with a blade the ring will pull out then just peel the rest off

Am just wondering lads is it possible to repair ceramic ring linings without removing the ring from the rod.

no if the ceramic pops out it mite go back in but it will not last long
