dab in myrtlville?

#1 Post by mawk »

so i was out for a snorkle earlier in the week and coming back to mrytlville beach i came face to face with a plump dab in all of about 4 feet of water. After a staring contest I gave him a poke and away he went. But ive never heard of anyone fishing for dabs there. Was he a fluke?
Does anyone here bottom fish there? Its very open sand, not many interesting features out in the middle.

Lots more fish around the rocks towards fountainstown but that was more expected.

Myrtleville beach...lots of dogfish, some flounder and odd small conger...and loads of mackeral if they're in. I've just rented a house there from 24th of July to 14th of August so if there's anybody doing a bit of fishing please let me know...I'll need a break from the wife and kids !!!

I've had good thornbacks from the rocks near Fountainstown beach plus loads of doggies but light float fishing and spinning for mackeral is great fun there with pollack and the odd bass to be had.

Has anyone been fishing this area lately ?

i fished fountainstown rocks a few weeks ago, managed a few dogs and a couple of micro pollack which took lures as big as themselves. no sign of any macks there yet tho.
