Cooler/freezer box ?

#1 Post by shamoo0804 »

After a long weekends fishing in Donegal its become apparent that I need to keep bait on these trips in better condition.

I've done a bit of googling to see if there is a cooler/freezer type box that can be used to store bait effectively but cant seem to find anything suitable.

I'm looking for something that can be plugged into the cigarette lighter in the jeep, and a box that has both a freezer and cooler section, so as to keep frozen bait frozen and worms etc chilled.

Does such a product exist ?

Any help greatly appreciated, thanks

I use a polystyrene box with a lid that i got off vinycorrigan.... it was used for shipping broccoli two bags of party ice and you can leave it in your boot for up to 4/5 days and it stays iced.... bradan saw it and got a medical grade polystrene box once the lid is kept closed it works a treat cheap as chips too ;-)

you can take out what you need per session and transport in an ian golds or similar cooler bag FWIW

Picked up one of these in my local tackle shop ideal for worms.... note of caution some have a heat setting as well as cool just be sure to double check before you plug it in or you'll end up with cooked worms.... we won't mention any names lol

Yeh they are very prohibitive on price, but wondered was there a more portable version that was cheaper - maybe its the freezer side of things on these that make them so damn expensive.

Not looking for just a cooler box type job, really wanted to have something to keep frozen baits frozen for the duration of a long weekend aswell as worm baits chilled - not just one or the other.

Looks like saltydogs idea is the winner so far, and just keep the worm baits in a seperate box.

Thanks for the replies

If you are looking for a high quality cool box, check out these makes, Yeti, Icy Teck, Igloo. - worth a look...

I have been considering the Yeti Roadie 25 litre due to the carry handle. A bit Pricy though £95.00 but a life time job.

http://www.coolicebox.co.uk/tundra

The Roadie 25 litre box is part of our Premium range, it features 3″ of insulation, which gives this range the caperbility to hold ice for up to 7 days – so providing maximum cooler performance. Use ice or a gel pack to keep this box cold. Perfect for lunch or specialist samples. It is lockable and has all the features from the Tundra series including Marine grade stainless steel carrying handle.
Length 20 5/8″. Width 14 1/8″. Height 13 1/2″
