Hi, am fairly new to fishing, have done a bit of spinning for mackerel and pollack on the east coast, am living in the west now. im wondering are there any mackerel showing up around the coasts of north Mayo/sligo/donegal?
Also i would appreciate any advice on pollack fishing in this area, if you dont want to give out marks no bother, im planning on exploring the area anyway.
Thanks.
Eoin.

Hi Eoin
Mackeral are showing in Sligo Raughly & Mullaghmore head. Theres alot of good pollack been taken from rocks Aughris head, Streedagh point, Mullaghmore & St Johns Point. Try firetail jellyworms & sandeels on leadhead or plugs. best times ive found on flooding tide & even better dusk vary your speeds of reeling in till you get a take be careful on rocks at high tide.
Tight lines

Hello Eoin. Countless rock marks along Mayo north coast between Belmullet and Kilcummin point, better buy a good pair of hiking boots
Have a look around Belderrig sometime, been some fine pollock got there in past seasons.
Mackeral are well in and thankfully bigger than the mice of the past couple of years. Pollock seem to be a bit fussy so far, not plentiful yet and hard to tempt.
Maybe they're bloated with sprat. Should improve from now on tho. Tight lines.
