Re: BEST SPINNERS FOR POLLOCK ?
Here are the main lures Ive been using for over the years, but the best by far is the blue & sliver or just sliver sprat like spinner which only cost €2.50 & have got me some great Pollock year after year & an 8lbr recently on one from the rocks, well woth a try!!bokofinn wrote:hello lads , whats the best spinners or lures out there for pollock ? i`ve being targetin them with jellys and sandeel floating and slowly retrieved but not much succes . any help greatly appreciated . thanks .

m8 good old fashion'd copper or silver spoon...get few different weights 20g 40g and 60g...for depth...when reeling in...stop for few seconds as sometimes thats when they strike!...best luck

Re: BEST SPINNERS FOR POLLOCK ?
It depends on the weight of the spinner & your main line.I use 18 -20 main line with a spinner tied on directly on a light spinning rod with plenty of backbone to handle the big pollock dives, casting out & reeling in at different speeds giving it a jerk every now & again. Should pick up leadheads (jigheads) in any good tackle shop!!bokofinn wrote:FisherKing wrote:Here are the main lures Ive been using for over the years, but the best by far is the blue & sliver or just sliver sprat like spinner which only cost €2.50 & have got me some great Pollock year after year & an 8lbr recently on one from the rocks, well woth a try!!bokofinn wrote:hello lads , whats the best spinners or lures out there for pollock ? i`ve being targetin them with jellys and sandeel floating and slowly retrieved but not much succes . any help greatly appreciated . thanks .

Re: BEST SPINNERS FOR POLLOCK ?
If you feel that the spinner is staying too high in the water even though you are retrieving slowly then feel free to add some weight.
How much and how far up the line are down to preferences but using split shot allows plenty of experimentation if you loosely crimp them.

I always did well with a weighted Muppet. Pollack can be lazy, with the muppet you can draw it slowly and sink it again.

Re: BEST SPINNERS FOR POLLOCK ?
I always found the jensen spinners to be the best. either the yellow and orange or the silver and green. the Lethal lures are good as well in the silver black and purple colour.
Wish list for 2015: sword tail, black Molly, horny cobbler

Re: BEST SPINNERS FOR POLLOCK ?
This months Irish Angler has a good article by Peter McGroary on spinning Pollack. To add my own take on things, a deep spun sandeel is the most consistent for me, spun as slowly and as close to the bottom as you dare. 1/0 fed through the mouth and out the gills then nicked into the flesh about halfway down its back, lash on with a bit of bait elastic, snip the tail off and away you go.
Fluff chucking is the new black..... Rampant Wreckfish is a fly angler in denial

Re: BEST SPINNERS FOR POLLOCK ?
had my best ever pollock, a fish just over 7lbs on the back of dunlaoghaire pier on a good old fashioned german sprat. brilliant lure and yet its so simple. jensens are pretty handy to as samo said. also found dexters, kilties and jellyworms spun slowly effective over the years
