i wondering what species to target at this time of year..

Where are you based?
Main species people targer in Summer would be, Flats. dogs, Ray, Bass(after closed season) Pollock, Wrasse, Huss, Dabs, Smoothound, Congor and Mackeral :)

It all depends where you fish though :D
