Bait:amber eel

Rigs:three feathers and an eel with four ounce weight

Results:Seven pollock two over four pound


Report:After three nights rock fishing for various species to no avail i managed to convince my friend to take me out when he was going to check his lobster pots. We spent two and a half hours trolling the rig in the hope of a few fish. We were fishing close to shore to shelter from the biting north wind along the cliffs by a spot known locally as the cross. The fishing had slowed considerably from the weekend before. Pollock had been seen in large numbers in trawenagh bay chasing shoals of sandeels and they were closely followed by five large seals who continually littered the beach with pollock heads washed up at low tide after their feast. Anyhow some it all up fishing was very poor but is promising for the next couple of months. I also saw some very large wrasse being caught up to four pounds and i know this area can produce larger as i have witnessed them being caught in the last few years.

hey big kev its in donegal between gweebarra bay and dungloe.

I fished there every summer for years. We would trawl over and back between Crohy Head and Arranmore. No fishfinders then, or fancy lures, just amber eels and feathers. We would catches loads of big pollack, coalies and mackerel.
