People:Me

Duration:Midnight to 5.30am

Tide:Rising

Weather:Damp and windy

Bait:Rag and razor

Rigs:various

Results:1 dab, 1 flounder, 1 schoolie

Report:Decided to skip out on a nights sleep over the weekend hoping to find a bass.
Got set up at midnight, fishing into the wind and into a nice surf, so things were looking good. Landed a small dab on the first cast, so that was the blank saved. Got the schoolie an hour later, and the flounder soon after. Then nothing. Should have packed up a lot earlier but the absence of small fish had me thinking that there might be a big bass on patrol in the area. Wasn't to be. Highlight of the night was at 5.30 when 3 lads who had been fishing earlier arrived back on the beach looking for help. I packed up and headed back to their car with them. The car was crossways in a sandy track, 3 wheels buried, and the remaining wheel hovering about a foot off the ground. Luckily I found an old cargo strap in the back of the van and managed to pull them out, but only when 2 of the guys got into the boot to get some weight over the suspended wheel. Never thought to take a picture.
Dismal return for a nights fishing, but planning the next trip already. The only way is up.
Entries now open for the All Ireland Shore Cod Championships on November 29th hosted by Sea Angling Ireland SAC

Fisherman's prayer:
God grant that I may live to fish, For another rainy day.
But when my final cast is made, I then most humbly pray.
When nestled in your landing net, As I lay peacefully asleep.
You'll smile at me and judge, That I'm "good enough to keep"!
