Hi Will,
from what i can gather the nova is the business, thinking of one myself as the tiga i have is on the blink.I had a speleo nightcatcher a few years back and the light was brill unfortunately problems with the connections which is why i don't like rechargeables anymore,im sure some lads will tell you about the apex but i don't think its as bright as the nova.I have a friend who has the old nova and very bright and NO PROBLEMS,best of luck i hate headlamp decesions as i have yet to find personally a long lasting bright trouble free one to date :x

i have the led lenser and its pretty good. i think the ordinary one is slightly brighter than the chargeable one i have. the batteries arent brilliant but when they start to dim i just pop in my own rechargeable aaa's and away it goes again for another few hours. well worth the €50.

The led lenser is ok, maybe in the same category as the Silva L1, but nowhere near a Samalite.

I would go for the Samalite if you could also get the lightweight rechargeable battery. I cant really comment on the Speleo nova, as i have never tried one.

having seen one the other day up close and in the flesh i can honestly say it does not merit its rediculous price tag. i saw it on full beam and it didnt impress me that much. my nova offers 6 watts of more than bright enough l.e.d power. and its a hundred blips less. theres other lamps in the price range your looking for. the samalites are savage i know fishaholic has one and loves it to death and the tigas are pretty good. choice is yours, i dont think the petzl is worth the insane price tag though

no, even the lad that had it said he wouldnt have bothered buying it if he didnt have credit from veals as its not worth the money. have you ever used a nova? anymore light than that is pointless and unneccesary
