Mark 1

Headed up to the standing stone at Donaghadee to fish the rocks and beach but it was very dissapointing. Didn't get a single bite from the rocks and only a few small bites from the beach.

Mark 2

We got back to Seacliff Rd about 22.00 and again very little happening although I managed a new species a small 9" 3 bearded rockling. An hour and a half past with nothing at all so we moved on.

Mark 3

We hit the jetty at Bangor peir at 23.45 where a posse(5) of Chinese where fishing for small pollack. We hung around for a while but all I got was a crab .

Then another group of Chinese turned up with rods. 10 of them float fishing and catching small pollack about 3"-5" and keeping them. The bucket they were putting them in must of had 30+ in it..... thats just not right :(:(:(

We couldnt watch this mindless slaughter any longer so we packed up and headed home.

Well done on the new species,The dee is really poor this year it has its moments but anytime i have fished it i have blanked,i gues its just the luck of the draw.

Good job on testing places not fished by many, i know a few people that have tried the standing stone but not had much sucess from it, well done on sticking it out and getting a few fish for your troubles.

Nice one on exploring new marks mate. Good to hear ya got a new species. Not good about the folks taking the tiddlers. I hate that sh**!!

nice one gary for getting out and trying a few new marks . in my experience you'll hit a few dud's before you find the hidden gem's but when you find em it makes all the blanks worth while we've been down at bangor quite a bit lately and i know excatly who the chinese lads are that you are talking about. i watched the older guy with the blue baseball cap putting the wee pollack and pouting into the big 5 gallon drum. i went over to him with my sea measure (which has the national federation of sea anglers recomended retention sizes on it) and pointed out to him that they were too small to take. and in fairness he poured the 18 or so tiddlers back in. but when i was back down the next day he was at it again with 9 or 10 other guys . not one for being shy or easily intimidated i went back over (measure in hand) and explained to them all what they were at was not on at all and would you believe that one of them had the cheek to say that they used to only take the conger as they are a lovely eating fish,,,, but bangor was no good for them any more, as they had all went away....... so the next obvious question was "how did you used to get on catching the conger". and the answer stunned me to the bone he reckoned they got 30 or so good ones for the pot over the course of a few weeks. so no bloody wonder the conger fishing had gone to the dogs at the harbour,, you've friggin well eaten them all . so now they seem to be onto the tiddlers. something they know is'nt on . when i saw him and 8 of them at it again i lifted the measure (again) and started to walk towards them. but as i did one of them spotted me and emptied the bucket and it's contents back into the sea job done!!! at least some juvenile fish were spared the wok that night. they then packed up and climbed back over the sea defences. so my advice to anyone at that mark in the coming weeks who sees them at it . is to politely challange them, as they know what they are at ai'nt on and they will put the tiddlers back if asked

Fair play to you Alan , it's all about education, the more anglers stand their ground the better. And honestly, even if they are outnumbering you, they are obedient to authority, this has been bred into their genes since generations, let them get away with it and the damage is done IMHO.

If the alternative is that these 10 guys either throw the tiddlers back or the next day buy fish for dinner from the fishmonger which has been caught more than likely by a trawler, with all the collateral and environmental damage that brings, would they not be better off taking the tiddlers?
