Mayo wind tunnel 28/07/09

#1 Post by yorkshire man »

People:just me

Duration:2-6ish

Tide:the drop

Weather:bloody windy

Bait:Mac Squid, sand eel lug launce

Rigs:up and overs

Results:16 rays and a doggie

Report:

got to the spot with 3 hours of the drop still to go set up the first rod with a squid and eel cocktail cast out put the rod in the rest, turned round to set up the next rod and the ratchet started on the first rod lovely ray about 4 pounds.
Rest of the session carried on like that lost as many as i caught mostly in the weed by the shore fish every chuck the doggie was a break from the ray.
only left when i did as the wind started blowing so hard the rest kept blowing over and i couldn't see the bites with the tips bouncing.

All in all a very fine days catch didnt even use the lug as i didnt need to , this is my second excellent session at this spot just wish it didnt seem to channel the wind so bad.

Was upset to see 2 trawlers working the the entrance to the bay though probably find the spot fished out on my next visit

Cheers
mike

I think the correct term would be " Happy as a pig in shite "
The more i think about it the more i realize what a good session it was, after a slow start this year is coming good.
It also good to find somewhere thats fishing on the drop, opens a few options when days off and the tides don't correspond

Hugo pm me i will give you the mark
