Myself and Sean fished from Cappa last night and caught loads of fish such as ray conger dogs and whiting sand eel was the bait which caught most fish the ray were bigger than average and put a reall good bend in the rod as I was using a conoflex nemises plus and the rod was bent in half and the fish made a few good runs which tested the light line I was using.
It was unusual to see a ray so lively as they put up a fight but these ones myself and Sean caught were not giving up easily.
The wind was going in a south westerly with a hard blow as uaual the south westerlys bring in the fish in the Shannon its pointless fising in an easterly wind so if anyone wants fish check out the weather for south westerlys which bring in mild tempertures and the fish.

the south side has gone down dramatically.im from tarbert and i dont bother fishing the pier anymore.there used to be good fish such as big ray and huss dere now just big congers as u said.u sud try carrig island at nite and ull get plenty of fish.nite fishing overall is much better at every mark in the estuary
