West waterford 17/3/09

#1 Post by Figs »

People:Me

Duration:5pm-6.45pm

Tide:LW approx 4pm

Weather:Mild southerly

Bait:Lug , Razor
Rigs: ledger

Results:
1 bass, 3.5lb

Report:
I've been out a few times and blanked this year but finally opened my bass account for the year yesterday. :) :)
Got him on a single lug.
Unfortunatly the batteries in the camera were not co-operative which is a pity as he had a big horrible lamprey of about 10 inches attached to him which would have made an interesting photo

It was located on the soft white underside just underneath the pectoral fins - just behind the flat hard bit. It stayed on for about a minute after I beached him and then let go while I was messing with the camera.
It left a 3/4 inch diameter red wound behind.
Nasty.

Well done on the bass Figs.

Figs didn't mention it but Cortaz and myself were fishing the same beach. Figs was there for the shortest time of the three of us but managed to land the only fish of the day (good fishing there Figs) although Art had a bite but the trace snapped. Earlier I thought I had a good bite, then the line went slack and a seal popped up its head

Figs - I didn't realize your camera wasn't working - I would have taken a picture of the bass and lamprey for you. The lamprey was a nasty creature alright - but don't worry Seanie it would be bothering any more bass or anything else as Figs gave its head a few almighty wacks off the nearest rock :D :D

That was the third consecutive blank I have had. I fished Ballyquin on Saturday without a hint of a bite, fished Warren Strand near Rosscarbery for the first time on Sunday and again not a bite and yesterday the only bite I had was a seal
Cod season Winter 2013/14: 117 cod (best fish: 6.5 lbs)
Cod season Winter 2014/15: 193 cod (best fish: 4.25 lbs)
