shannon estuary 15/3/09

#1 Post by gearoid mc s. »

People:me

Duration:12:30-16:00

Tide:lw @ 2ish

Weather:calm and overcast

Bait:macko & squid

Rigs:pennels clipped..3/0

Results:1 huss @6lbs
1 ray @ 3lbs
few whiting..(first from here)

Report:missed a load of other bites earlier on in the session..fish would pick up the bait give a few bites and then drop it again..very frustrating but nice to get the first ray of the new year...tried out my recently acquired slosh 20 and very pleased with it...all quiet other than that but summer is beginning to arrive...ray put up a good scrap and the huss was a nice bonus..still to blank after 2 years on this spot and prior to those fecking whiting smallest fish from the mark was a 2lb ray...pics below

I was only watching Henry Gilbey on Discovery realtime yesterday and he was fishing for bull huss and thornbacks in the Shannon estuary. He had a cracking session aswell. Must try to organise a trip down there. Congratulations gearoid , mighty fish!
A bad days fishing is better than a good day at work.

Any chance we can join you on a trip one of the days ?????????

Conger did you speak to an English lad Sunday and were you set up in front of the 'car park'?
