No, you're mixing it up with the tropical scorpion fish. The ones we get here have spikes but no venom and are harmless.

i used to think they were as well. the only thing i can say is that sometimes if you get jagged you might get a bit of an infection from it, dont think it would do ya much harm, or would it? dont think so but it just might.
