Report:Got back my rod saturday morning, impatient to try it so headed to dollymount strand with the hope of a few flatties and maybe a bonus bass.....But the baits came back untouched each cast...
The wind got stronger, so decided to call it a day and come back home....
I've fished off the strand itself a couple of times, never had a single fish, always found weed to be a problem.
I've fished at the north end of the beach into the channel at low water with mixed results, and also fished off the south end (off the breakwater), with only eels to show for my trouble.
Not my favourite area, but it did produce my first (and 2nd....it was a double shot) ever bass
I agree completely, it's a tricky spot...I've fished both end and the middle with mixed results....Got good flatties sessions there (dab essentially), but got a few schoolies there too. The weed is a big problem and sometimes you have to stop fishing....
But it's a nice place, I can take the dog with me, and it can fish really good...
I've found this year the Dublin north spots to be very slow, except for doggies and withing...
Got a few good sessions on dabs at the end of the summer, at the north end of the beach (a good walk from the car park)....
Have tried the beach morning, day and evening, low and high water, with very mixed result... And a good session can be ruined in a few minutes by the weed.... Very tricky spot.....
