hello folks
im after a bit of insight. had a go of a flattie fanatic lately classy piece of gear. the info i'm after is pretty straight foward
1. how much can i expect to pay?
2. are they available in the munster region?
3. 11ft or 12ft which is the better?
hopefully ye can help me out it'l be much appreciated

Something you might want to consider as well mate is a carp/pike rod. I use them for flatties and for dlose range fishing on clean ground. They'll cast up to 4oz easily and they are great for this. Even smaller fish put a bend in em.

Hi Sully,
from memory peter horne in blarney had a few about 2 years ago so it might be worth a shot.I had the 11ft version and its a lovely light rod perfect for flattie bashing,bite detection was unreal.If you get one try for the 12ft as i found the 11ft just a bit short which was why i moved it on.
Failing that spotty dog tackle in the uk have some on their web site,as do tony's tackle.

i use them all the time, great bite detection, the ones i use have a 2.75lb tip.
at the end of the day they are capable of holding carp to 30lb+ and large pike,
the main one i use has got me huss, doggies, rays and so on with no trouble.
every ray i'v got this year has been on my carp rod, my best ray this year "so far" was over 14lb,
and the rod handled it no problem.
best of all, if your fishing in the surf you could hold it in your hand all day cos'
its that light. i use it with a skp multi; and like jammyjoey said you can cast up to 4oz easily.
one more point, these are made for freshwater fishing, so give them a rinse down after a session, mainly around the rings.

i would still go for a bare bones bass model, better allround rod
than the flattie fanatic.

thanks for all the info lads i'm living in tralee so carp rods are harder
to come by than hens teeth.also i dont no how well i'd be able to keep it what with the salt water an such.
also i'm afraid i've become a bit obsessed with possessing a flattie
fanatic. will hopefully be the proud owner by the middle of next week.
