Don't looking for sharks... if you know they patrol the area, just find big shoals of mack or white fish, set the drift in the spot and let the sharks to finde you by building nice slick. If they catch the smell they will follow it, looking for source of tasty stuff
It is not a matter of upper or lower class, but of being up a while and down a while...

i made a grab for my shark rod but the shark was gone.
i think it was attracted by the mackerel blood in the water i pumped out of the boat.

The occasional tope, no sharks. The odd porgie has been encountered 15nm east of the Copelands off the Mull of Galloway (a top spot for tope, if you have a boat.) The North Channel is too cold for blues.

Several years ago I was in my boat in Strangford Lough (about half a mile north of "The Pins") when I saw something moving very fast (throwing spray 2-3 feet into the "air) against the tide. I motored over and it was a small bouy (lobster pot type) it was doing about 5knts against a very fast tide it was going dead straight and I followed it for about a quarter mile there were no other boats near and no one has ever been able to explain what it was.

My best guess is either a dolphin (most likely) or a big shark fouled up in a string of pots

That sounds like a trawler net to me!!

There was no boat in sight so unless the trawl was being dragged by a submarine!
The trawl net idea has been proposed before but as I say there was no other boat in sight and that area of the lough would be a nightmare to trawl as the depth varies from 10feet to 250feet and back up to 30 feet in a couple of hundred yards
