Spent a couple of hours at Blackhead last week - on the "flats" then another rock mark. The flats were disgustingly dirty - a disgrace in a beautiful part of the country.
The rock mark was deserted and gave some nice pollock.
The estuary around Ballyvaughan seemed very productive but I did not have time to fish it. Does anyone know the sort of fish it holds "on the bottom"?

''The flats were disgustingly dirty - a disgrace in a beautiful part of the country. '' Could not have put it better myself. Conditions at nearby Ballyryan are little better.
With regard to Ballyvaughan, there are plenty of mullet around the harbour area. These can be seen cruising around most days at high tide.
Elsewhere in that area, I have only caught small flatfish when bottom fishing.

Before the eastern invasion, all the complaints were aimed at Limerick lads (and Dublin, probably, when I was goneIvan wrote:Couldn't agree more in relation to the filth. All the popular rock marks around Ballyvaughan/North Clare are in a disgusting state. I don't know who's responsible but I've a fair idea. Savages. I'm sure it's the same story in South Clare...the Blue Pool and Bridges of Ross must be in a right mess.
