The only place I know of 'round there that has produced tope is Newquay. Haven't targeted them myself but they've definitely been taken there (big too). There's a very fast rip running through a channel that's hard to hold bottom, even with 6oz grip and it's snaggy in close. Not always easy find 'em there either - bit of hit 'n miss. Can give you detailed directions to the mark if interested...
For other species, the only other marks closeby that I've fished are around Black Head (and I personally think it's a bit overrated). It's ok if you want to target wrasse and pollack in close. Beyond the rough and onto a clean sandy bottom, I've only taken the odd ray, dogs and some flatties. Never taken any huss there
