Report:
Headed down to usual spot with a good lot of lug which was just as well as my bait was being stripped every cast pretty quick. Don't know if it was crabs, or small whiting, but they were quiet and thorough...
Pete arrived around 10, for a couple of casts whetting his appetite for his morning comp. Chatted with him for a while, admiring his new wheels then went back to my rods, to find one of my lines away down the beach. Reeled it in, but what ever had run with it was gone. Pulled in both my lines and they both still had bait, so whatever it was was scaring off the bait thieves. Next cast, headed back over to chat to Pete, came back again and my line was off down the beach again. This time when I tightened up, there was still something attached and a reeled in a schoolie bass.
Reinventing the flounder walk as the bass walk
Pete had switched to my lug after the bass, but no bites for him, so we left around 11 with Pete blanking for the second time in a row. In fairness to him, coming down at low water fishing for less than an hour with one rod - he wasn't doing himself any favours, although I'm glad he did as I didn't catch until he got there.....
