Howth Pier

#1 Post by Steve O'Hanlon »

Headed back up with a friend last night to fish from 6-8. There was one other guy there, he was catching huge mackeral on the float (using mackie for bait).

We were using feathers and things started off fairly slowly, a few mackeral and some small pollack.

But the last 30 minutes before darkness was incredible! We caught and released over 50 pollack (no, I'm not kidding). They were literally 5 feet out from the base of the pier. None of them were of any real size, the best was only about 2lbs.

A great couple of hours fishing (aside from slipping and nearly breaking my neck on the rocks)!
Entries now open for the All Ireland Shore Cod Championships on November 29th hosted by Sea Angling Ireland SAC
