People:me, MC, nige

Duration: 7 1/2 hours

Tide:rising

Weather:absolutely gorgeous.. sunny and hot

Bait:mack squid sandeel and lugworm

Rigs:various

Results:dogs, huss, flounder

me: 3 dogs and 1 flounder
MC: 2 dogs and 1 huss(first huss)
nige: 2 dogs

Catch and Release:: Yes

Report: what can i say.. what a day... haven't laughed that much in ages..
Got picked up around 11am and was greeted with MC's face looking out of the passenger seat window( that soon changed when i kicked him into the back seats   ). we hit our location around 12 and were soon fishing..

as usual i caught the first fish.. a doggie.. and nige wasnt too long before he struck into a doggie.. the pressure was on for martin... but it wasnt long before he pulled out his doggie..
decided to go scratchin with the uptider  and after a while it paid off with a nice flounder being wrenched out of the water with a SL30SH  ... at this time martin pulled out what looked like a doggie.. but after a closer inspection turned out to be a small Huss... when released i showed MC a nice little trick to de-hooking flatties that have a deep hook set in their mouth...

after this fishing slackened off as the tide was coming to the high..
coffee was made and enough chocolate to feed a small country was consumed (thanks MC for the easter egg.... cadburys cream egg... yummie)

around 7pm rigs were brought in and 4oz leads were clipped on...

i managed 141 yards on nige's set up (fixed spool)
and managed 164yrds on MC's set up (anyfish anywhere match + penn 525)
which smashed MC's record of 150yrds
and on my own set up i got 167yrds..

nige managed 122 yards on his own set up
and MC got (i think)129 yrds on nige's
and 140yrds on own set up
i cant remember what he got on my zzippy but i'm sure he'll remind me

(that damned anyfish anywhere is a really heavy rod)
i think martin is a convert to zzippy's now :D

video's were taken... :D but due to content i cant post up the links

at the end of the day all were happy with the day's craic and thanks again to martin for the feedin in Oughterard...
Entries now open for the All Ireland Shore Cod Championships on November 29th hosted by Sea Angling Ireland SAC

with me having to miss the next comp the wife said i could go fishing and try the area where the comp is to be held, one mention to Mr crow and the day trip was set in motion, what can i say, but a great day it was indeed and well worth the trip and for the company, well, lets just say its was great craic . Caught my first huss, a bonus for the trip, as for the zziplex cast( sorry Alex  ) it was 143yards with 4oz, could have done better but wasn't allowed to put the reel down the butt. I would just like to say thanks to Stevecrow and Nige for a great day.

ask nige about the shaggy dog he got, and thanks to the tea boy for the coffee, it was fantastic, once again thanks lads and its a pity I cant make the next comp.
