Steps in Greystones

#1 Post by paulocallaghan »

People: just me

Duration: 3-9

Tide: hw 9.30

Weather: lovely

Bait: rag, mackeral, crab and lug wraps

Rigs: 3 up, 1up 1 down

Results: 4 flounder, 3 plaice and 2 dab

Catch and Release:: Yes

Report:

Wanted to head out and try to add to my species list for the year and mission accomplished. after a painfully slow start i finally got a plaice (1st of the year) at 5.30 after that the fishing greatly improved with 3 doubles and a few singles. All of the plaice fell to a small piece of wrap tipped with rag. Crab accounted for a few of the flounders and the dabs fell to various concoctions of what ever i put out. I was getting fish up to about 8.45 at which point it started to get dark and as i wasnt planning to be out that late i didnt have any head light.
Tried for a few dogs as the tide filled towards darkness but unfortunately i still havent got one this year, must keep on tying.
In summery i was impressed with the venue (thanks Mick for the directions).
Entries now open for the All Ireland Shore Cod Championships on November 29th hosted by Sea Angling Ireland SAC
