why when do most people start going back for Bass ?

The water temperatures are just below 10C, so given the right conditions there is a good chance of getting bass when bait fishing off any of the beaches in January. Often February can be more lean if we get a prolonged period of high pressure with frosty nights which drop down the water temperatures well below 10C when the bass become inactive.
In 2012 I had my best bass of the year in January!!

I fished carpets on Friday night from 10pm to 2am and blanked in spectacular fashion, no crabs tearing at my bait,no pin whiting nothing, i reeled in on a number of occassions to have my bait still on the hook in tact after 15 to 20 minutes.
