liam, you sure it wasn't a 3 bread rockling you caught and not a ling???? i know for a fact rockling are always caught all along the coast and ling live in deep water where as rockling tend to inhabit shallow water areas and deep areas

nice enough codling to keep the rod tips knocking, do they seem to be the average stamp this year in and around red bay?
last summers run seemed bigger on average...

i didnt see his fish ling?, but a lot of rockling were showing that night i had 3 myself. I do wish i had seen it myself to help in this debat.

As for size of fish taken i also was shocked. anytime i have fished this area they have been small i took the cod in the first pic and this was best i have had from here.

It was a good night that was helped by lazy cod and this fella knows his cod and how to get them.

seen codling to about 2lb or so taken from this beach at distance earler this year at the upc closed gold medal

i remember 1 year CBRSAC fished it for a masters and the cod where like a plague...catching them in trebles and doubles and most of the fish where between 2lb and 4lb but that was a couple of years ago

it was a small ling merv saw it and told him it was a ling and he agree with me caught it when the rest was packing up and heading to their cars.

No Phil, there a lot smaller tbh. That wee one was about 1.25-1.5lb. Straight back to grow bigger!

Jonny, i would be a happy man to hit that sort of stamp of fish anytime 8)
