hard luck on the cod quest for the first round Alan but good going on the coalies, a 2lb coalie is not to be laughed at. great fish . well done, good luck on the next session.

tried a new mark last night that kevin told me about, so thought it might be worth ago,,,, YES

the west cod are around, it was very hard work ,very snaggy lost about 10 rigs and weights but i did not give up,,, i managed to land one nice codling and a small coalie.. sorry about the picture as the fish took the hook right down.......

thanks again all for the comments... yes i tried the same mark again this evening, but no fish this evening, i think it is time to move on to the next mark,, as i said it was hard work, i lost 4 rigs this evening, very rough ground...... but ha ,,, hope to find the cod at a clean mark and pleanty of them too i hope........

just thought i would share this with you all. was out at a local bait mark to day for some lug and found pleanty of them but also managed to fill a bucket of sandeels also, i knew there where sand eels there but not in numbers like today got 135 and missed about 200 fast little feckers.... never thought of sandeels in the winter time always thought they went out to see after the summer.........

Not to bad either to have the Lug and "Sandeel" near by - how bad

, beats buying the costly little fellas in the tackle shop. But as you know are a cracking bait on the west coast. All sorts of methods if you can catch them live

thanks for the tip on the sandeel went out and got a good few as well,I have seen a few cod caught out around clifden in the last few years,I was fishing a pier last year when a local came in and he had around 10 of them in the boat up to 3lb he pointed out the spot and said I would have no problem getting them from the shore,I never tried the spot because you have to walk about 1 mile to get to it
