Using an otter board in freshwater is illegal gfk, just so you know not to try it in the lake againgfkelly1969 wrote:here is another idea a fellow told me about years ago and i modified it a bit
you start with a piece of board about 3 feet long x 9 inch x1 inch and cut the 2 ends at a 45 degree angle
then nail a strip of lead on the bottom, the lead will make the board stand upright in the water then put 2 picture hooks in centre of the board about 1 foot apart and join a piece of wire between them with a keyring on the wire them join a long bit of builders line to the keyring
then connect your fishing line with the polo mint and rig to the picture hook
after you set up the board in the water start walking along the shore and pull the builders line gently and feed out the line at the same time, when you pull the line the angle on the board will make the board go away from you
when the polo mint releases the bait and then the angle on the other end of the board will bring the board back in again
I tried it on a lake years ago and it worked fine but I don't know how well it would work on the sea

Its called fishing, not catching. If it was called catching it wouldn't be fishing!

Re: polo mint and balloon rig for getting extra distance
I know its illegal now but didn't back then,I was only 12 at the time and a lad that was building the neighbours house was telling myself and the friend about it,so we searched the site for the bits and made one,we had to walk 2 miles up hill to get to the lake so we only tried it the one timeBradan wrote:Using an otter board in freshwater is illegal gfk, just so you know not to try it in the lake againgfkelly1969 wrote:here is another idea a fellow told me about years ago and i modified it a bit
