At the suggestion of various members and given the magazines will run a mile from criticising a piece of kit, here is your chance to tell us what you really think about a rod, reel, line, lure... keep it legal please!

I got one....the old version....a tank...easiest reel to maintain..throw in a bucket of water after each used and give them a crank....nice free spool.....can be magged for casting.....no brake at all...lever drag....unfortunately only single drag which will make cranking a bit heavy after reaching 20lbs amount of drag (if not mistaken).....ratchet sound on cranking....nice loud alarm/clicker....not sure with the new models.....mine got no IAR....so theres backplay on the crank.....the new models got nice crank handle....in swept.....hence more stable/less wobble while cranking....the new models also come with 2 speed.I remember cranking a 35 kg of ray in south africa a few years back with 50lb braided...not a problem.....a true winch.....good choice of reel......

I have the SX and the MX (in silver, because I'm not a tart like you  ) they are everything Joe has just said...pleasure to use and own.

I magged both of mine...it takes all of 10 minutes.

Should be an excellent Tope reel from either boat or beach!

BTW Alex...reason I got the silver ones....they stay looking newer for longer..the anodized ones can show scratches easy.

Top quality reel. I loves my sx so much, it's displace my tld 5 and 10s in my affection.

I'm a true tackle tart, fickle in my affections.

thanks guys. yep you guessed it tom, am only going for the green one as i am a tart(tackle tart , that is) and it looks so cool. i hadn't realized the sx was so small though :? the line amount seems to suggest a larger reel but i ain't complaining. this reel will be for the times i just want to bring 1 reel and one rod, so in case i ever get round to catching a big fish i will be safe in the knowledge my tackle can handle it.

anyone else go anything to add?

Alex.

Alex,

Let me know when you want to mag it....I will email you the diagrams.

btw...sat mine on the table when I first got it..spun the spool...after about 6 minutes I got sick of waiting for it to stop   ...nice to watch but not that nice when you want to cast it unmagged
