Hi Liamdenn

Do you have a preference for Multiplier or Fixed Spool and/or a budget?

2015 targets - a triggerfish, a specimen bass, a three bearded rockling to complete the set and something big and toothy from certain north Mayo deep water marks

If you're looking for a multiplier, I can recommend either a Daiwa SL30SH or a Penn 535Mag.

Reel

#5 Post by JimC »

Liam,
I don't do anything much from the shore other than spinning but afloat I use : Slosh30, Abu 7000, Penn 535 and 525. All are great all round reels. I would think if I was doing more from the shore than boat I would go for a 525 or 535 mag or Abu6500 mag. The mag would give you good casting control from the shore but still equal boat performance.

Regards,
Jim.

I have a 7000 that I have used both from the shore and on a boat.
Great reel, but wouldn't get the distance of a 6500
