People: myself and rolly

Duration: 18.45 - 21.00

Tide: high about 19.00

Weather: bright spells, windy, NW, one shower round 20.30

Bait: none of that

Rigs: lures

Results: 3.5lb sea trout, 1lb mack

Catch and Release:: No kept mack

Report: was debating to mack bash or not yesterday evening - rolly was mad to head out for other species - so headed south in the end

on arrival a local asked us what we were going for - gave the mack reply - and he retorted with "bass - tards" - if only!

quiet a jovial chap - had a good chat with him - knew his fishing - far more insightful/sound than the usual heads we meet down there

was not expecting much at all with the swell - thought it was too much - nothing showing no follows after an hour

rolly starts harping on about seeing fins in the waves - sure go ahead tell yourself something, i was thinking

ten min later bang he was into the trout - struck very close - not much of a fight involved - fish had a beautiful green colour to it on the dorsal side

that was it for another half hour - then i got the mack - made a few runs - fair play to him on the 8lb line!

nice for a quick session - made up for a few blanks in that particular area
Entries now open for the Henry's Tackle Shop All Ireland Shore Smooth Hound Championships on July 18h hosted by Sea Angling Ireland SAC
