Bait:Mackerel/Squid/Sandeel/Ragworm

Results:3 Dogfish & 1 Pollock

Catch and Release:: Yes

Report:
Disappointing Session for a place i thought was going to throw up a few fish,even when making up cocktails we was having a hard time tempting the fish to bite.The air was warm but rained constantly throughout the night which resulted in us getting soaked to the bone, but we persevered in the hope we would catch decent fish. Gonna go back to it when we have a dry spell of weather and have another crack at it again

The fish we caught was a decent size though,so alls not lost.

the dogs were caught on the float? - had you the bait on the bottom or just off it?

the rocks where we were fishing,the depth was around 12-15 feet,I was constantly fishing at a depth of around 8-9 feet on float,my mate was doing the same and thats how we got the doggies.The colour of them though was very black,not seen before by us,theyre normally a lighter colour,i thought they might be changing colour due to the rocks and depth of water and the behaviour of the fish was strange too,ive always had doggies play with the bait but these just took the bait and ran.

Why the question anyway,is it unusual for doggies to be caught on float?

When you get to the harbour,go over the stile next to the wee house and walk along the grassy rocks area till u come to the rocky drop off,fish there,but you need a decent day,its crap in the rain plus the rocks are slippy as f*** after a storm.

thats it - never heard of a dog on the float - suppose they can go like the coalies and pollack and get used to the rocks and the weed aswell

i used to think that way to corbyeire, then at certain marks i started to pull them in on the float. i suppose it isn't that strange as i'm sure carlbfast like myself sets a depth on his float to fish 1-2 foot from bottom which the doggies are quite happy to feed from.
