Got an ABU "tele boat match 3.6m 3 tips F22" sounds like a mouth full. Like you I needed a good scratching rod for the shore that could also be used in the boat. This rod done the bizz. Its a 12' rod with 4 tips of different strenghts. On the boat I've had pollack to 8lb and cod to 7lb using the 3rd strongest (for want of a better word) of the tips. On the shore it's bit detection is scary and will have you jumping for the rod all the time. Had no problem sending a 3oz lead a 100yds with it using a lazy cast. Great rod for pluggging and spinning. Paid about €90 for it from Dan at the halfway angling center.

You can add a 5lb bass, from the shore, to that list. Using the softest of the tips while fishing for mullet, on 8lb floro and a size 6 hook baited with rag.
Will have the rod with me at the comp in Gurteen.

2nd what Donal has said on that rod, I have used it for Mullet, flatties and Twaite Shad from the shore. Any worries I had about using it on the boat were dispelled, I had great crack on the recent Galway Bay outing gilling Pollack with it with manys a double coming in no problem. At anchor, dropping small baits down, bite detection was phenomenal. From the shore, you would see the proverbial crab fart beside it at 100 yards. Super, versatile bit of kit and very reasonable at the price too.

Pete/Donal
Aside from jellying for pollock would you think its a bit awkard for fishing for other species on the drift...a bit too long like

Hope i'm not hijacking a thread here :?

I wouldnt be bouncing leads on the bottom in the middle of rough weedy ground with it, but for the gilling end of things, fishing baits on the bottom at anchor or fishing a flowing trace over clean sand or just off the bottom, its great. Its not one for the wee Orkney either, the uptider is awkward enough there, but its grand on a charter, no issues.
