Info on fishing Portsalon

#1 Post by x »

Was thinking of trying for a few flatties from Portsalon this weekend. Anyone got any experience of fishing there this time of year - baits, tide state etc?

Anyone know if bait (ie lug, razor, etc) can be dug locally?

I heard a rumor recently in my local tackle shop that some decent flounder were bagged there a couple of weekends ago (all highly anecdotal - may have been designed to flog some bait'n'tackle)
- anyone from this forum responsible?

All info apreciated.

Portsalon

Hi Sandman,

Fished Portsalon a couple of times this month down at the southern end of the beach with flounder taken both days and very small turbot. The lad I was with on the 3rd Jan beached at least a dozen. Mack tipped of with squid worked on both outings using two hook flappers lobbed 50 yards or so. I was out for a couple of hours either side of the high tide. I want to try the same area at the low tide. I reckon that there is a possible fish-holding gully within casting range at low tide and want to give it a go. Nothing to lose but the bait!
