People:Me
Duration:9am till 2pm
Tide:rising
Weather:Wow
Bait:Rag and Mack
Rigs:Drilled Bullet above the hook, feathers and baited feathers
Results:7 Wrasse 1-2.5lbs A mack and a Doggie
Catch and Release:: Yes/No the Mack became the bait for the doggie
Report:First time out since the Rugby and Communion season ended. Started out with a cert mackie bashing session south of Kilkee (Mrs M and the boys like me to catch some eating fish and then she doesn't mind me heading off for the day 8) ) after 5 casts I had 10 for the pan and the smoker and so headed home.
After the hunter gatherer task was done I dropped the quarry home and headed up north.
I got to Ballyreen and saw there was only 1 other man there......when i got to the rocks I saw there were about six other rods dipping over the edge (The Germans by the pool effect) your man was on the phone and within minutes 15 other s arrived :o still, I had my mark and was happy enough.
Was Fishing under the ledge with rag on the hook and not much action I kept at it and as the Rag deteriorated the Wrasse started to show - this is only my third time actually catching Wrasse and all the time it has been to dead rag, may this be a fluke, have others noticed this or am I just getting better at chasing these fish? (the other times the bait had been Live rag S.eel and fish and shell fish). I lost tackle in the weeds and so threw out feathers for a while, after a few casts I caught a lone mack chopped him up and put him on the feathers and casted out to the sandbank and left it, this tactic landed a doggie (~4lbs what is the defference between LSD and a small GSD), when the fish bait was gone I got back into the Rock Fish.....finished up with 7, five over 2 pounds and 2 under. spent the last hour spinning jelly worms for pollock but to joy.

No pity, but it looked like a LSD only a bit bigger and I felt the head looked wider. I was bulling at the time I didn't swat up on the differences between the GSD and LSD, re the nose flap I forgot which was which and now my memory fails me as to which pattern my fella had and as I said I did feel it was a doggie when I was retrieving, he was no pup though and closer to 4lbs than 2lbs.
